NAPA ENDS OAKS SEASON 13-1 We just got word that Fair Oaks' season came to an end today as Post 383 lost to Napa 13-1 at Tiger Field in Redding. Napa went on to win the Area 1 title with an 11-1 victory over Chico later in the day. Congratulations to the Oaks for another fine season and for those fans, parents and players who will be back next season, we look forward to seeing you again then. Thanks also to the several parents who have helped us with scores, and, of course, to the players and coaches who make the Oaks team what it is.
FAIR OAKS WILL FACE NAPA REDDING, Calif. (July 18, 2009) - Fair Oaks will face Napa Sunday morning as the Area 1 Tournament in Redding continues. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start at Tiger Field. Saturday night, Napa beat Chico 16-4 to hand the Nuts their first loss of the tournament. Since Fair Oaks and Napa each have one loss, the loser of Sunday's 11 a.m. game will be eliminated from the tournament with the winner playing Chico at 2 p.m. for the Area 1 Championship. The Area 1 Champion will advance to next week's State Tournament in Yountville.
F.O. STILL ALIVE WITH 12-8 WIN REDDING, Calif. (July 18, 2009) - Fair Oaks kept its Area 1 Championship hopes alive by beating Oroville 12-8 Saturday afternoon in Redding. Oroville had previously beaten the Oaks 8-1 back on Thursday in Fair Oaks' second game of the tournament. The Oaks will face the winner of tonight's Chico vs. Napa game at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday). If the Oaks win, they will play again at 2 p.m. for the championship.
OAKS BEAT EUREKA 8-6 REDDING, Calif. (July 17, 2009) - Fair Oaks stayed alive in the Area 1 Tournament in Redding with an 8-6 victory over Eureka on Friday. The Oaks will play their next game at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Their opponent was unknown as of this time.
OROVILLE BEATS OAKS 8-1 REDDING, Calif. (July 16, 2009) - Oroville beat Fair Oaks 8-1 Thursday in the Area 1 Playoffs in Redding. The web page will be updated later today.
OAKS BEAT EL DORADO 10-0 REDDING, Calif. (July 15, 2009) - Fair Oaks beat El Dorado 10-0 in seven innings to open the Area 1 Tournament in Redding. It was the third straight shut out for Fair Oaks in the post season. Go HERE for the game summary. The Oaks will play tomorrow at 4 p.m. against the winner of the 1 p.m. Napa vs. Oroville game.
YOLO LANDS 2ND BERTH IN AREA 1 TOURNAMENT We just got word that Yolo Post 77 will be added to the Area 1 Tournament in Redding next week after Auburn dropped its appeal of Area 1 seedings that would have allowed both the El Dorado and Auburn teams to compete in the tournament. El Dorado and Auburn are in District 7 and are the only two teams in their league. We are assuming El Dorado will represent District 7 as they thumped Auburn 18-1 in the opening game of their three-game playoff series July 9. We have not heard any additional game results.
OAKS TAKE D6 TITLE WITH ANOTHER SHUTOUT OVER YOLO WOODLAND, Calif. (July 11, 2009) - Fair Oaks Post 383 captured the District 6 American Legion title and a trip to the Area 1 Playoffs with a 5-0 victory over Yolo Post 77 Saturday night at Clark Field in Woodland. The Oaks received a complete game pitching performance from Taylor Sanders and broke open a 0-0 game in the fourth with four runs, including a three-run home run to left field by first baseman Chris Harms. The only other run in the game came in the fifth after a leadoff triple by right fielder Jon Lang followed by a ground ball to third by third baseman Ryan Hall. Go HERE for the game story. The Oaks now advance to the Area 1 Tournament in Redding which starts on Wednesday, July 15. The Oaks will play at 10 a.m. on Wednesday against either El Dorado or Auburn. The host Redding Rattlers are trying to arrange for the tournament to be webcast. For details, check out their information page at: Area 1 Tourney.
BANDILLA LEADS OAKS TO 9TH INNING WIN WOODLAND, Calif. (July 10, 2009) - Bryce Bandilla came in to pitch the Oaks out of an eighth inning jam and then doubled in the ninth inning to drive in Brian Kennedy to lead the Oaks to a 1-0 victory over Yolo Friday night in the District 6 Championship Tournament in Woodland. In the top of the eighth, Yolo's pitcher Suavae Cook doubled to lead off the inning and then was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by shortstop Jeff Boulware. Bandilla replaced Oaks starter Cody Osburn, who had held Yolo scoreless to that point, and got the next batter to ground out and then recorded a strikeout to end the inning to leave the game knotted at 0-0. In the bottom of the ninth, Kennedy got a one out hit to right and then Bandilla doubled to deep center field to score him and give the Oaks the 1-0 win. Go HERE for the game story. Fair Oaks will now face the winner of the Yolo vs. West Sacramento loser's bracket game in a 7 p.m. contest Saturday night at Clark Field. Yolo and West Sacramento play at 3 p.m. If the Oaks win Saturday night, they are the District 6 champs and will advance to the Area 1 tournament in Redding next week. A loss would force another game on Sunday to decide the District 6 winner.
