Fair Oaks 11, Napa 2 (League: 0-0, Overall: 2-1) - May 25 @ William Land Park - Fair Oaks bats awoke in the third game of the Memorial Day Tournament as the Oaks pounded Napa for 16 hits in an 11-2 victory.
The Oaks got starting pitcher Adam Moskofsky a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as catcher B.J. Crone led off with a double to right field.
Crone took third on third basemanEric Archuleta's hit to right and then scored on shortstop Garrett Schoenfelder's sacrifice fly to right field.
Two more runs scored in the third inning as Rick Patel led off with a double. Crone followed with a ground out and then Archuleta got a hit to left to send Patel to third. With Schoenfelder at the plate, a balk brought home Patel and then Schoenfelder drew a walk.
First baseman Jim Ott then got a hit to left to load the bases and right fielder Brad Rhines' fly to right scored Archuleta for a 3-0 lead.
Napa got its first run of the game in the fifth on a pair of doubles, but the Oaks came right back in the bottom of the inning for three more runs.
Schoenfelder led off the inning with a double to right center but was erased when Ott's bunt resulted in the throw to third. Ott scored, however, as Rhines tripled to right for a 4-1 lead and then a double by Bryan Lynch scored Rhines to make it 5-1.
The final run of the inning scored with two outs as center fielder Rick Ryan beat out a bunt toward third. Lynch to crossed the plate for a 6-1 advantage.
Napa went out in order in the top of the sixth and Fair Oaks came back for a five run outburst in the bottom of the inning.
Crone led off with a triple to center and was driven home by Archuleta's fly to center. Schoenfelder followed with a hit to left and with Ott at the plate a wild pitch advanced Schoenfelder to third. Both Ott and Rhines walked to load the bases and then Lynch's hit down the left field line scored Schoenfelder and Ott for a 9-1 lead.
Designated hitter Sean Chopelas made it 11-1 with a hit up the middle that scored Rhines and Lynch. Ryan followed with a walk, but the next two batters recorded outs to end the inning.
Napa managed one run in the top of the seventh for the final 11-2 tally. The win sent Fair Oaks into Monday's championship game against Stockton.
