Citrus Heights 13, Fair Oaks 7 (League: 14-4, Overall: 18-5) - June 29 @ Bella Vista High - With Citrus Heights pitcher Marshall Rubens striking out 14 and Fair Oaks commiting six errors, the Oaks didn't stand much of a chance in their final game of their three-game set against Citrus Heights, losing 13-7 at Bella Vista High School.
Citrus Heights led 5-0 before the Oaks got on the board with three runs in the third. Starting pitcher Brandon Olson left the game in the top of the third in favor of Russ Beldi, but Citrus Heights hits, coupled with Oaks' miscues, ran the score up to 11-3 by the top of the fifth.
Citrus Heights scored five times in the fifth, chasing Beldi from the mound in favor of Ryan Reed, who blanked Citrus Heights over the next two innings.
The Oaks managed two runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth to bring the score to 11-6, but Citrus Heights added single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to put the game away.
Fair Oaks scored only one more time with a run in the eighth for the final 13-7 tally.
Dave Yurchak closed out the game on the mound for Fair Oaks as he came in to pitch the ninth inning.
Despite the loss, the Oaks collected 13 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance from catcher B.J. Crone, two hits by Chris Rhines and a double from Jason Wilkerson.
