Elk Grove 8, Fair Oaks 5 (League: 2-1, Overall: 6-2) - June 8 @ Bella Vista High - Fair Oaks suffered its first loss of the league season as Elk Grove upset the Oaks at Bella Vista High School, 8-5.
Fair Oaks scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning as second baseman Jim Ott started things off getting hit by a pitch with one out.

Ott moved to second on a ground ball to second by shortstop Garrett Schoenfelder and then scored on right fielder Jason Wilkerson's hit up the middle for a 1-0 lead.
Elk Grove evened things up in the top of the second on a double and error and then took a 4-1 lead in the third off starting pitcher Adam Moshofsky on four hits, including a double.
Fair Oaks gave up another run in the sixth on a one out double, followed by a single to right, but pulled back to within one run in the bottom of the inning, 5-4.
B.J. Crone led off with a double to right and scored on Ott's hit to right. Ott scored on a hit up the middle by Garrett Schoenfelder and then Wilkerson's double to left scored Schoenfelder to make it a 5-4 contest.
Elk Grove came back for a run in the top of the seventh, however, prompting a pitching change as Ott switched from second to the mound. Ott got out of the inning with no further damage and the Oaks appeared set to make a run at the lead as they loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with two outs as Crone was hit by a pitch, Schoenfelder reached on an error and Wilkerson walked. The next batter, however, struck out to end the inning.
Elk Grove added a run in the eighth for an 8-4 lead and Fair Oaks closed out the scoring in the ninth with a single run.
Crone led off with a double to center field that bounced over the fence. With one out, Schoenfelder drew a walk, and then with two outs, a Beldi hit to center scored Crone to make it an 8-5 game. Ricky Patel was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but the next batter flew out to left field to end the inning and the Oaks' chance to keep their unbeaten league record intact.
