Fair Oaks 3, Fort Sutter 1 (League: 3-1, Overall: 5-1) - June 10 @ Hiram Johnson High - Fair Oaks returned to Hiram Johnson High for its second game against Fort Sutter in the space of five days and like the first contest, the game was a low scoring affair with the Oaks landing on top 3-1.
The Oaks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as left fielder Matt Pudge hit a two out triple to left field. First baseman Bob Churchill was the next batter and he hit a ball to deep short, beating the throw to first for a hit and driving in Pudge for the one run lead.
In the top of the sixth, the Oaks made it 2-0 as catcher Doug Matlack led off with a double to left field. With two outs, Pudge hit a ball to short that was booted, allowing Matlack to score for the 2-0 lead.
Alex Graham took the mound in the bottom of the sixth, replacing starting pitcher Robert Barrett who held Fort Sutter scoreless through five innings and struck out four.
Post 383 added its third and final run in the top of the seventh as center fielder Ricky LaFavor bunted down the third base line with one out for a hit. He moved to second on shortstop Ricky alonso's ground ball to third and then scored on third baseman Aaron Yurchak's hit to right.
Graham shut Fort Sutter down through the eighth inning. In the ninth, Dan Gemma took the mound and gave up a leadoff hit to left center to the first batter he faced. The runner stole second and later went for third, as well. Matlack's throw to third base went into left field allowing the runner to come home and make it a 3-1 game. The batter eventually walked, but the next hitter grounded into a double play to give Fort Sutter two outs. Gemma got the next batter to ground to second and the Oaks recorded the 3-1 non-league win.
