Matlack. With first baseman Manny Parra at the plate, a wild pitch sent Sneath to third and Matlack to second. Parra's ground ball to short scored Sneath to make it 2-0 and then a hit up the middle by third baseman Mike Wright scored Matlack to make it 3-0. Back-to-back walks to Holtzen and shortstop Derek Chase loaded the bases, but a strikeout to right fielder Steve Snider ended the inning with no further runs scoring.
Folsom got one run back in the second, but the Oaks came back in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own to take a 4-1 lead. With one out, Thompson got a hit to left field. With Sneath at the plate, two wild pitches moved Thompson to third. Sneath struck out, but the next batter, Matlack, hit a ball to short. The throw was high and Thompson scored to give the Oaks a 4-1 advantage.
Two consecutive walks, an error and a hit up the middle by Folsom in the third gave the Flames two more runs to close the score to 4-3, but the Oaks scored twice in the fifth to go back up by three runs.
Parra led off with a hit to right and Wright followed by getting hit by a pitch. Holtzen then put down a bunt that went for a hit and loaded the bases with no outs. Chase grounded to third to force Wright, but Parra scored to make it 5-3. Snider followed with a bunt back to the pitcher, but Flames' hurler Stuart Brooks couldn't pick the ball up and the bases were again loaded. A strikeout to Cook made it two outs, but then Thompson got a hit to center to score Holtzen to make it 6-3. Chase also tried to score, but was out at the plate to end the inning.
Fair Oaks faced a new pitcher in the sixth as Dan Garland relieved Brooks, but the Oaks quickly loaded the bases off Garland and went on to score seven more runs.
With one out, Matlack got a hit to right center, followed by a walk to Parra. Wright then hit a ball to second. Flames second baseman Chris Petalli dived for the ball, just barely getting a glove on it. The ball rolled away, however, and the Oaks had the bases loaded. Holtzen then walked to force in Matlack and Chase followed with a double to score Parra and Wright to make it 9-3. Snider hit a ball to short with the throw coming home, but Holtzen scored to make it 10-3. Cook also hit a ball to short and beat the throw to first for a hit, also scoring Chase. With two outs, Sneath appeared at the plate for the second time in the inning and got a hit to left, scoring both Snider and Cook to give the Oaks a 13-3 lead.
Mike Blanford came in to relieve Holtzen in the top of the seventh and despite giving up a hit and a walk, held Folsom scoreless. A two out ground ball to second ended the game due to the 10-Run Rule in effect for the tournament and the Oaks remained the only unbeaten team in the District 6 championships.
