Fair Oaks 9, Yolo 0 (League: 12-0, Overall: 20-5) - July 17 @ Sacramento City College - Fair Oaks saved the best for last in the District 6 playoffs as the Oaks won a 9-0 contest against Yolo Post 77 to win the league title.
Pitcher Robert Barrett hurled a complete game shutout for the Oaks, recording 12 strikeouts en route to the win.
Fair Oaks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as center fielder L.J. Sneath got a two out walk to start things off. With catcher Doug Matlack at the plate, Sneath stole second. Matlack then got a hit to center to score Sneath and make it a 1-0 game. First baseman Manny Parra was hit by a pitch and third baseman Mike Wright got a hit to left to load the bases, but the Oaks were unable to capitalize and had to settle for the single digit lead.

The Oaks held their 1-0 lead until the fifth when two more runs came home. Sneath led off with a hit down the line into left field. Matlack followed with a hit to right to move Sneath to third, and then Sneath scored on a Parra double to right to make it 2-0. Wright followed with a hit to Wright to score Matlack and give the Oaks a 3-0 lead.
In the seventh, three more runs came home for the Oaks. Parra was hit by a pitch to start things off. With Wright at the plate, a wild pitch sent Parra to second. Wright then hit a ball to short, but Yolo shortstop Karl Coulsen couldn't field the ball and Wright was safe. With one out and Barrett at the plate, a double steal allowed Parra to score and moved Wright to second. Left fielder Steve Snider then hit a ball to second that was booted, allowing Snider to reach safely. Second baseman Josh Thompson then hit a ball to second that went for another error and allowing Wright to score. Right fielder Garrett Holtzen then got a hit to left to score Snider and make it a 6-0 game.
The Oaks scored three more times in the eighth as Parra was hit with one out to put a runner on base. With two outs, shortstop Derek Chase hit a ball to short that was booted, sending Parra to third. Barrett then got a hit to left to score Parra and Snider walked to load the bases. Larry Lomascola hit a ball to second that went for another Yolo error and scored Chase. With the bases still loaded, Holtzen walked to force in Barrett and make it a 9-0 game.
Yolo got two runners on in the top of the ninth, but failed to score as Barrett kept the shutout and the Oaks won the District 6 title.
