Fair Oaks 6, Folsom 3 (League: 6-0, Overall: 7-0) - June 13 @ Renfree Field - The Oaks overcame an early 3-0 deficit to rally for a 6-3 win over Folsom at Renfree Field.
Folsom scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning off starting pitcher Dan Gemma, who gave up four consecutive hits after getting the first two batters of the inning out.
The Oaks settled down after that, however, and held Folsom scoreless the rest of the game - using both good pitching and some excellent defense.
Post 383 scored its first run in the top of the fourth as center fielder L.J. Sneath walked to lead off the inning. With catcher Doug Matlack at the plate, a pickoff attempt to first by the pitcher got away allowing Sneath to take second. Matlack then sent a hit into right to score Sneath and make it a 3-1 game.

The Oaks added two more runs in the fifth, tying the game at 3-3. Third baseman Derek Chase started things off with a ball to short. The throw to first was bad sending Chase all the way to second on the play. Second baseman Larry Lomascola then bunted back to the pitcher. The throw went to third, but Chase made it safely to put two runners on for the Oaks.
Left fielder Tim Cook followed with a hit to left center to score Chase and send Lomascola to third. Cook took second on the throw in, keeping two runners in scoring position for the Oaks. Right Fielder Garrett Holtzen then got a hit to right to score Lomascola and tie the game at 3-3.
Folsom threatened in both the fifth and sixth, but Fair Oaks wriggled out of trouble both times. In the fifth, a one out double off Gemma down the left field line put a runner in scoring position. Gemma struck out the next batter, however, and then an intentional walk set up another strikeout despite a wild pitch that had advanced the runners to second and third.
In Folsom's sixth, a hit and error put runners on second and third. The next batter sent a fly to center that was caught by Sneath who then pegged a perfect throw to Matlack at the plate to get the runner who had tagged at third. Gemma then struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Fair Oaks came back to add two more runs in the seventh after two were out. Cook got a walk, followed by a hit to right by Holtzen. Cook scored on a hit to left by Sneath to make it 4-3 and Holtzen went to third and Sneath advanced to second on the throw home. A wild pitch with Matlack at the plate allowed Holtzen to score to make it a 5-3 Oaks lead.
Robert Barrett took the mound for the Oaks in the seventh inning, putting on a dazzling pitching display. Folsom went down in order in each of the remaining three innings as Barrett recorded two groundouts and a strikeout in the seventh and struck out the side in the eighth.
In the top of the ninth, Fair Oaks scored its final run with two outs. Cook was hit by a pitch and then Holtzen drew a walk. A bad pickoff to first with Sneath at the plate sent Cook home to make it a 6-3 game.
Barrett wrapped things up in the bottom of the ninth as he got two more groundouts before striking out the third batter to end the game.
The win kept the Oaks undefeated on the season with a 6-0 league record, 7-0 overall.
