Fair Oaks 8, Rio Loma 0 (League: 7-3, Overall: 7-3) - June 12 @ Renfree Field - The Oaks received another stellar pitching performance - this time from Brian Janowiak - as they rolled to an 8-0 victory over Rio Loma at Renfree Field. Janowiak allowed only three hits in the complete-game victory and recorded six strikeouts.
The Oaks scored twice in the second inning and never looked back as left fielder Charles Smith led off with a triple to center field. He scored on first baseman Mickey Weisser's hit to right and then with one out, consecutive hits by designated hitter Joe Gaggero and third baseman Mike Wright loaded the bases.
Fair Oaks' second run scored after shortstop Derek Chase hit into a third-to-home play that got Weisser. With center fielder Garrett Holtzen at the plate, a balk brought home Gaggero to make it 2-0.
The Oaks added four more runs in the fourth as Weisser led off with a double to right. Catcher Doug Matlack followed with a walk and Gaggero got a hit to right to load the bases. Weisser scored on a ground ball to short by Wright and Matlack followed as Chase hit a ball to third that was booted for a 4-0 lead. Holtzen followed that with a hit to left to score Gaggero and then second baseman Josh Thompson's sacrifice fly to left scored Chase to make it a 6-0 game.
Post 383 added another run in the sixth as Wright got on via an error at third and then with two outs, scored as Thompson doubled to right, making it 7-0.
The Oaks' final run came in the top of the seventh as Smith led off with a walk. With Weisser at the plate, Smith stole second and moved to third on Weisser's ground ball to second. Matlack sent a sacrifice fly into right to score Smith and the Oaks owned an 8-0 lead.
Janowiak struck out two in the bottom of the seventh en route to the complete-game shut out win.
