Devin Spurling connects with a pitch in the fifth inning for a triple in the Oaks 10-0 win over Millbrae at the Peppermill Classic in Reno.
Fair Oaks 10, Millbrae 0 (League: 15-6, Overall: 19-6) - July 6 @ Reno - RENO, Nev. - For the third straight game, Fair Oaks "10-runned" its opponent, beating Millbrae 10-0 in the Peppermill Classic in Reno.
    The Oaks staked starting pitcher Kris Wright to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as leadoff hitter Garrett Holtzen singled to right, shortstop Josh Thompson singled to left and right fielder Bill Rhinehart followed with a towering home run to right field.
    The Oaks kept their three run lead until the fifth inning when they broke the game open with five more runs.
    Thompson led off with a bunt for a hit and then with Rhinehart at the plate stole second. Thompson moved to third on Rhinehart's ground ball to first and then scored on pinch hitter Mickey Weisser's hit to center. First baseman Devin Spurling followed with a triple to center to score Weisser and then left fielder Charles Smith tripled to center to score Spurling and make it a 6-0 game.
    With two outs, catcher Joe Gaggero doubled to left center to score Smith. Andrew Gallagher went in to run for Gaggero and he scored as third baseman Mike Wright hit a ball to third. The throw to first was low and got away and the Oaks owned an 8-0 lead.
    Millbrae couldn't get anything going against Kris Wright in the sixth and in the bottom of the inning, the Oaks scored two more runs to invoke the tournament's 10-run rule for the victory.
    Thompson was hit by a pitch to start things off and then with one out, a triple by Weisser brought him home for a 9-0 lead. Weisser then tagged and scored on a long fly ball to right by pinch hitter Steve Snider to give the Oaks the 10-0 victory.
