Manhart 11, Fair Oaks 3 (League: 15-7, Overall: 15-7) - July 1 @ Renfree Field - Post 383 lost another early lead as Manhart ran up 11 runs on Fair Oaks en route to an 11-3 victory at Renfree Field.
A one out solo home run by left fielder Mickey Weisser in the top of the first staked Fair Oaks and starting pitcher Dave Breisacher to a 1-0 lead, but it was pretty much downhill after that as the Oaks couldn't contain Manhart.
Manhart scored five times in the second to take a 5-1 lead before the Oaks managed to bring the score within two at 5-3.
In the top of the third designated hitter Charles Smith led off with a walk. He stole second with Weisser at the plate. Weisser hit a ball to second and the ball went under the second baseman's glove allowing Weisser to reach safely and Smith to take third. With one out, a double by third baseman A.J. Vidlund scored Smith and Weisser to make it a 5-3 game.
Manhart came back, however, to score another pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and scored three times in the fifth to take a 10-3 lead.
Back-to-back hits to start the sixth inning by first baseman Tyler Robertson and right fielder Matt Schirmer gave the Oaks hope, but a Manhart pitching change quickly got things back under control and the Oaks recorded three straight out to end the inning.
Steve Snider came on to pitch the sixth, but ran into trouble early as a leadoff walk and hit to left put two runners on with no outs. Snider got the next batter to line to second, but then a hit up the middle scored another Manhart run to bring the score to 11-3.
The Oaks got a leadoff walk to Weisser to start the seventh, but the next three batters went down to end the game and give Manhart the 11-3 victory.
