Fair Oaks 10, Rio Loma 4 (League: 3-2, Overall: 3-2) - May 31 @ Bella Vista High - The Oaks completed their doubleheader sweep of Rio Loma with a 10-4 victory over the visitors at Bella Vista High School.
    Starting pitcher Dixon Allen struck out the side to open the game and the offense took over in the bottom of the first to score the Oaks first run of the game.
    With one out, designated hitter Larry Lomascola was hit by a pitch and then moved to second as second baseman Josh Thompson hit a sharp ground ball to short that the Rio Loma fielder couldn't backhand. With first baseman Mickey Weisser at the plate, a passed ball moved Lomascola to third and Thompson to second. Lomascola scored on Weisser's fly ball to center for a 1-0 lead.
    Two more runs came home in the second as consecutive hits with one out by shortstop Derek Chase, catcher Joe Gaggero and left fielder Sam Ferra loaded the bases. Center fielder Steve Snider then hit a ball to short. The throw went to second to get Ferra, but a high throw to first allowed Chase and Gaggero to score to make it a 3-0 game.
    Another pair of runs came across the plate in the fourth off a new Rio Loma pitcher. With one out, Gaggero doubled to right center and with Ferra at the plate, a balk sent him to third. Ferra grounded out to short, but Snider, the next batter, doubled to right to score Gaggero and make it 4-0. With Larry Lomascola at the plate, a wild pitch got away from the catcher and Snider scored all the way from second to make it a 5-0 game.
    The Oaks continued to pound Rio Loma in the fifth as five more runs came home for a 10-0 lead.
    Thompson led off with a bunt down the third base line that went for a hit. A ground ball by Weisser moved Thompson to second and then with third baseman A.J. Vidlund at the plate, a pitch in the dirt allowed Thompson to take third. Vidlund then singled to right to score Thompson and a hit by the next batter, right fielder Matt Schirmer, moved Vidlund to third.
    A walk to shortstop Derek Chase loaded the bases and then a ground ball to first scored Vidlund in a close play at the plate. Ferra then grounded to short with the play goind to second. Schirmer scored on the play. Then a hit to center by Snider scored Chase and Ferra to make it a 10-0 Fair Oaks lead.
    Rio Loma loaded the bases in the top of the sixth with one out, eventually scoring three runs, but the Oaks maintained a hefty lead and Allen got out of the inning with no further damage being done. In the seventh, David Breisacher relieved Allen, giving up a pair of hts and a run, but the Oaks lead was never in danger as Post 383 took the 10-4 victory.
