Fair Oaks catcher Joe Gaggero takes a lead off first base after a fourth inning walk in Post 383's 6-2 loss to Yolo Post 77. The Yolo win gave Post 77 a sweep of the doubleheader at Bella Vista High School.
Yolo 6, Fair Oaks 2 (League: 1-2, Overall: 1-2) - June 5 @ Bella Vista High School - Yolo completed a sweep of its doubleheader against Fair Oaks with a 6-2 victory over Post 383 at Bella Vista High School.
As it did in the first game, Yolo scored the winning runs in the final inning of play to break open a 2-2 tie.
Post 77 went up 1-0 in the top of the first off Oaks' starter Ryan Stevens after three errors brought a run in without virtue of a hit.
More errors contributed to a second inning run as Yolo went up 2-0, but the Oaks battled back to tie the game in the fourth with a pair of runs of their own.
With one out catcher Joe Gaggero walked, followed by back-to-back singles by third baseman David Breisacher and shortstop Derek Chase. Gaggero scored on a fly to center by pitcher Ryan Stevens and Breisacher came home to tie the game on a double by second baseman Chris Rinaudo that just tipped off the left fielder's glove.
As it happened in the first game, the contest remained tied at 2-2 going into the final inning - in this case the seventh - and Yolo scored four times to take a 6-2 lead.
The Oaks couldn't get anything going in the bottom of the seventh as they went out in order, giving Yolo its second win over Post 383 in as many games.
