Fair Oaks 22, Post 61 3 (League: 12-1, Overall: 12-1) - June 25 @ Bella Vista High School - Fair Oaks continued to pound opposing pitching with a 15-hit, 22-run outburst against Post 61 at Bella Vista High School June 25.
Post 61 took a 1-0 lead off Oaks starting pitcher Robert Beard in the first, but Fair Oaks came right back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning as second baseman Kyle Richardson led off with a hit up the middle. With one out and first baseman Mickey Weisser at the plate, a passed ball sent Richardson to second. He advanced to third on an errant pickoff attempt from the pitcher. Weisser was then hit by a pitch to put a second runner on. The next batter, third baseman Austin Morgan, then popped a ball into center field that was caught by the shortstop. The ball was deep enough, however, to allow Richardson to tag and score to tie the game at 1-1.
The Oaks added three more runs in the second as center fielder Nikolai Rowe got a one out walk. The next batter, Richardson, hit a ball to second that was bobbled and the Oaks had two runners on. Shortstop Steve Rinaudo then tripled to right center to score both runners. The throw into third got away and Rinaudo also made it home to give the Oaks a 4-1 lead.
Beard put Post 61 down in order in the top of the third and the Oaks came back in the bottom of the inning for another eight runs and a 12-1 lead.
Left fielder Jason Lomascola led off with a double to left, followed by a walk to right fielder Trevor Lewis. The Oaks

loaded the bases on a bunt to first by catcher Joe Holguin that was misplayed. Lomascola scored on a walk to Rowe to make it 5-1. Richardson then hit a ball to second, but the throw came home to get Lewis as he tried to score. Rinaudo followed with a hit to right to score Holguin and then a double by Weisser brought in Rowe, Rinaudo and Richardson for a 9-1 lead.
With two out, designated hitter Ryan Stevens was hit by a pitch to give the Oaks runners at the corners. Lomascola then walked to load the bases and drive Post 61's starting pitcher out of the game. The new pitcher promptly gave up a walk to Lewis to force Weisser in to make it 10-1 and then Holguin followed with a hit to right field to score Stevens and Lomascola and make it a 12-1 advantage for the Oaks.
Post 61 made it a 12-3 game in the fourth as an error and home run led to a pair of runs. But the Oaks struck back in the bottom of the inning with three more runs to increase their lead to 15-3.
Rinaudo led off with a hit to deep short. The throw to first got away and Rinaudo took second on the play. Weisser followed with a double to right to score Rinaudo and with Morgan at the plate, a wild pitch advanced Weisser to third. He scored on a fly to center by Morgan and then Stevens hit a solo home run to right field to make it a 15-3 game.
The Oaks weren't through, however. Five more runs scored in the bottom of the fifth to give Post 383 a 20-3 lead. Consecutive hits by Holguin and Rowe put two on and then the bases were loaded after Ryan Appledorn was hit by a pitch. Rinaudo hit a fly ball to left to score Holguin and then the bases were re-loaded as Andrew Leduc was hit by a pitch. A fly to left by Robert Butler scored Rowe and then Beard's hit to left scored Appledorn to make it 18-3. Lomascola was the next batter and he hit a ball to short that was booted allowing Leduc to score and then a Lewis hit to left scored Beard to give the Oaks a 20-3 lead.
Fair Oaks added its final two runs in the bottom of the seventh as Leduc led off the inning with a walk. With one out, Beard doubled to right center, sending Leduc to third and he scored on Lomascola's hit to center to make it 21-3.
Brian Garber went in to run for Lomascola and the next batter - Lewis - walked to load the bases. Holguin then hit a ball to second that almost went for an inning-ending double play, but the relay from short to first was late and Holguin was safe and Beard scored to give the Oaks their final run in the 22-3 win.
Beard only gave up one hit over the final two innings and Post 383 recorded its 12th victory of the District 6 season. Beard had nine strikeouts in the game.
