Fair Oaks 4, Post 61 0 (League: 13-1, Overall: 13-1) - June 25 @ Bella Vista High School - Fair Oaks completed a sweep of its weekend doubleheader with a 4-0 victory over Post 61 at Bella Vista High School.
The fact that the Oaks rested a number of their regular starters may have had something to do with the lower score, but Post 383 still controlled the game as starting pitcher Ryan Stevens gave up only two hits in the shutout win.
The Oaks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as third baseman Steve Rinaudo hit a ball to short. The Post 61 shortstop fielded it cleanly, but then dropped it as he tried to throw to first and Rinaudo was safe. Catcher Austin Morgan moved Rinaudo to third with a hit to center field and then with right fielder Trevor Lewis at the plate, Morgan was thrown out trying to steal second. Lewis then grounded a ball to short that allowed Rinaudo to score for the 1-0 lead.
The Oaks took a 2-0 lead in the fifth as left fielder Robert Butler led off with a double to left center. A bunt by designated hitter Brian Garber moved Butler to third and then he scored on a ground ball to third by shortstop Chris Dennison.
The Oaks final two runs scored in the bottom of the sixth as Rinaudo got a one out double to right field. He scored as Morgan sent a fly ball to center field that was dropped, making it 3-0.  Morgan tried to make it to third on the play, but was thrown out for the second out of the inning. A triple by Lewis then put another Oaks batter in scoring position and with first baseman Andrew Leduc at the plate, a wild pitch brought Lewis home for the 4-0 lead.
Stevens faced the minimum number of batters over the last four innings of the game and allowed only four Post 61 runners to reach base - on a walk, two hits and a hit batsman - but one of those was picked off and no one made it passed second base. The victory improved Fair Oaks' record to 13-1 on the year.
