Fair Oaks 16, West Sacramento 0 (League: 17-1, Overall: 24-2) - July 10 @ Sacramento City College - After beating Yolo Post 77 the night before, 13-7, you would think West Sacramento would have put up more of a fight against Fair Oaks, but the Oaks clobbered West Sac. 16-0, no-hitting their opponent through five full innings, while taking advantage of five errors.
The Oaks put their first two runs on the board in the top of the first as left fielder Steve Rinaudo led off with a hit up the middle. He stole second with second baseman Kyle Richardson at the plate and then scored on Richardson's double down the right field line to make it 1-0. Richardson moved to third on a ground ball to second by first baseman Mickey Weisser and then scored as third baseman hit a ball to short that was bobbled to make it a 2-0 game.
Fair Oaks put three more runs on the board in the third inning as Richardson and Weisser drew consecutive walks to start the inning. Richardson scored on a hit to left by Morgan and then with one out, catcher Joe Holguin walked to load the bases. Designated hitter Tyler Robertson followed with a hit past shortstop that scored both Weisser and Morgan to make it a 5-0 lead. Then, with shortstop Chris Dennison at the plate, a wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third. Holguin was able to score on another pitch in the dirt and the Oaks owned a 6-0 lead.
Five more runs came home in the fourth inning. Rinaudo started things off with a hit to left field. A walk to Richardson drove West Sacramento's starting pitcher out of the game, but the new hurler promptly gave up a hit to right field to Weisser that loaded the bases. Morgan followed with a double down the left field line to score Rinaudo and Richardson and make it an 8-0 game. Stevens then doubled to center to bring in  Weisser and Morgan and increase the Oaks' lead to 10-0. Stevens advanced to third on the play at home. With Holguin at the plate, a wild pitch scored Stevens to up Fair Oaks' lead to 11-0.
The Oaks scoring attack continued in the fifth inning with three more runs crossing the plate. With two out, Weisser got a hit up the middle. The next two batters literally knocked West Sacramento's pitcher off the mound as Morgan let loose with a hard line drive off the pitcher's leg for a hit and then Stevens followed with another drive off the pitcher to load the bases.
West Sacramento's third pitcher of the night entered the game, but he couldn't stop the Oaks either as Holguin touched him for a hit down the right field line to score Weisser and Morgan and then pinch hitter Andrew Leduc followed with a hit of the glove of a diving right fielder to score Stevens and make it 14-0.
Oaks starting pitcher Robert Butler, who had no-hit West Sac. through four full innings was replaced on the mound by Brian Garber to start the fifth. Garber quickly put West SAcramento down in order and the Oaks came back in the top of the sixth to score another pair of runs for a 16-0 lead.
Right fielder Trevor Lewis was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and then with one out, Richardson hit a ball to short that was booted. Weisser walked to load the bases and then Morgan also drew a walk to force in Lewis to make it a 15-0 game. Richardson then scored on a ground ball to first by Robert Beard to bring the score to 16-0.
Garber hit the first batter he faced in the bottom of the sixth and then gave up West Sacramento's first hit of the game as Gordy Lahann hit a soft liner into center field. With two outs, West Sac. got its second hit of the game on a ground ball to short by Larry Mason that was fielded cleanly, but Dennison had no chance to make a play at first. West Sacramento was unable to score, however, keeping the shutout intact as Garber got the next batter to ground out to first.
The Oaks got a one out hit by Lewis in the top of the seventh, but couldn't muster another run. Leduc took the mound in the bottom of the inning and sent West Sacramento down in order. Due to the tournament's 10-Run Rule, the seventh was the last inning, and the Oaks recorded the 16-0 victory.
