Fair Oaks 19, Folsom 3 (League: 17-1, Overall: 25-2) - July 14 @ Renfree Field - Fair Oaks continued to pound its opposition as the Oaks beat Folsom 19-3 at Renfree Field.
Post 383 took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as pitcher Steve Rinaudo led off with a hit to deep short. Second baseman Kyle Richardson followed with a walk and then the bases were loaded as first baseman Mickey Weisser was hit by a pitch.
Rinaudo scored on a ground ball to short by third baseman Austin Morgan. Unfortunately, the grounder turned into a double play. Center fielder Ryan Stevens then hit another ground ball to short, but beat the throw to first allowing Richardson to score to make it a 2-0 game.
Rinaudo, who faced only three batters in the first despite a leadoff single, put Folsom down in order in the second and the Oaks went back to work in the bottom of the inning scoring eight more runs for a 10-0 lead.
Left fielder Jason Lomascola led off with a walk and then right fielder Trevor Lewis was hit by a pitch. Shortstop Chris Dennison then put down a bunt with the pitcher fielding. The throw went to third, but out of the reach of the third baseman and Lomascola scored to make it 3-0. Folsom put in a new pitcher who struck out the first batter he faced, but then Richardson hit a ball deep to short resulting in no throw and Lewis scored to make it 4-0. Weisser then grounded to second to score Dennison and Morgan reached base on an infield hit to keep the inning alive.
Stevens then hit a ball to short that was booted allowing Richardson to score and then catcher Joe Holguin got a hit to center field that brought in Morgan to make it 7-0. Lomascola walked to load the bases and Lewis followed with a hit to left to score Stevens and Holguin and make it a 9-0 game. The final run of the inning scored on a Dennison hit to left that brought in Lomascola to give the Oaks a 10-0 lead.
A leadoff triple in the fourth led to Folsom scoring two runs, but the Oaks came right back in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 15-2.
Lewis led off with a hit to right field, followed by a walk to Dennison and a hit to left by Rinaudo to load the bases. With Richardson at the plate, a wild pitch scored Lewis and then Richardson tripled to center field to score Dennison and Rinaudo to make it 13-2. With one out, Morgan hit a ball to short that was booted and reached first safely with Richardson scoring for a 14-2 lead.
This resulted in another Folsom pitching change, but the new hurler gave up a hit to right to Stevens. Holguin then popped to first, but the ball was dropped and Morgan scored to give the Oaks a 15-2 advantage.
In the fifth, four more runs came home as Andrew Leduc led off with a double to center field. Back to back hits by Dennison and Rinaudo pushed Leduc across the plate and drove yet another Folsom pitcher from the mound.
The new pitcher struck out the first batter he faced and then walked Weisser to load the bases. Walks to Morgan and Stevens followed scoring Dennison and Rinaudo and then with two outs, a walk to Ryan Appledorn scored Weisser to make it a 19-2 game.
Brian Garber came in to pitch the sixth for the Oaks and put the Flames down in order. Fair Oaks managed two base runners in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to score. Garber ran into some problems in the top of the seventh as he hit the first batter he faced and then walked a pair to load the bases, with a strikeout in between. A fly to right field brought in Folsom's third run of the game, but Garber got the next two batters to fly out to end the game and give the Oaks a 19-3 victory.
