Mike Sanchez connects with a hit to left field in the fifth inning in the Oaks 6-5 win over Southside. Sanchez later scored to close Fair Oaks' early deficit to 5-3.

Fair Oaks 6, Southside 5 (League: 8-1, Overall: 12-1-1) - June 14 @ Bella Vista High - After beating Yolo 4-0 the night before, Fair Oaks came out looking flat in their game against Southside, trailing the entire contest until a two-run ninth inning lifted the Oaks to victory.
Southside jumped on Oaks' starter Trevor Lewis for two runs in the first and three more in the third to take a 5-0 lead, but Fair Oaks started pecking away at the lead as Post 383 came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Right fielder Mike Sanchez led off the inning with a hit to left field and then with one out, the Oaks got a second runner on as first baseman Chris Johnson beat out a ball hit to third for a base hit. Catcher Bret Gibson followed with a hit to center field to load the bases and then a walk to left fielder Ryan Appledorn forced in Sanchez with Faor Oaks' first run. A fly ball to center field by second baseman Kyle Richardson allowed Johnson to tag and score to make it a 5-2 game.
The Oaks added another run in the bottom of the fifth after two were out as Sanchez got a hit to left. Center fielder Alex Anicich followed with a walk and then Johnson got a hit off the shortstop's glove to bring in Sanchez to cut Southside's lead to 5-3.
Brian Garber, who had come in to replace Lewis on the mound in the third got into trouble in the top of the seventh as a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases with two outs. Garber maanged to strike out the next batter, however, keeping the Oaks deficit at only two.
Designated hitter Andrew LeDuc led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run over the 328-foot sign in left field to close the gap to 5-4. Neither team scored in the eighth and things weren't looking good for the Oaks as they entered the ninth.
Fair Oaks faced a new pitcher in the ninth and it was exactly what Post 383 needed as LeDuc led off with a ball to third that was bobbled allowing ihm to reach safely. Sanchez followed with a hit to left and then Anicich walked to load the bases with no outs. With Johnson at the plate, Robert Butler went into run for Sanchez at second. Johnson hit a ball to third that was knocked down behind the bag. No one was covering the base, however, and LeDuc scored to tie the game at 5-5 and everyone else was safe to keep the bases loaded. Gibson struck out for the first out of the inning and then Appledorn hit a sharply hit ball to third. It was knocked down and the only play was to first for the out. But that was only the second out of thei nning and Butler easily scored to give the Oaks the come-from-behind 6-5 victory.
Oaks pitching gave up only four hits in the game, but walked nine and had four errors.
