Oaks left fielder Chris Johnson dives back into first base on a pickoff play in the fourth inning of Fair Oaks' game against West Sacramento. Johnson eventually scored in Post 383's 9-1 victory.

Fair Oaks 9, West Sacramento 1 (League: 12-3, Overall: 19-6-1) - July 6 @ Bridgeway Lakes Park - Fair Oaks remained in the chase for a share of the District 6 regular-season title with a 9-1 victory over West Sacramento. The win gave the Oaks a 12-3 record, a game and a half behind Southside's 15-3 mark. Southside has finished their league schedule and the Oaks have three games to go.
    The Oaks scored their first run of the game in the third inning as third baseman Justin Wilson got a one out hit up the middle to start things off. Center fielder Kyle Richardson followed with a bunt that popped up and landed between the pitcher's mound and second base for a hit. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch with second baseman Greg Polanski at the plate and then Wilson scored on another wild pitch with first baseman Andrew LeDuc at the plate.
    Starting pitcher Keith Jennette sent West Sacramento down in order in the bottom of the inning and the Oaks came back in the top of the fourth to score three more runs for a 4-0 lead.
    With one out, left fielder Chris Johnson got a hit to center. With designated hitter Abel Alcantar at the plate, a pitch in the dirt sent Johnson to second and he moved to third on Alcantar's hit to center field. Johnson then scored on a hit to left be shortstop Chris Dennison to make it 2-0. Catcher Jesse Olson followed with a hit off the pitcher's glove that loaded the bases and then a hit to left by Wilson scored Alcantar to make it a 3-0 game. With two outs and Polanski at the plate, a passed ball scored Dennison to give the Oaks a 4-0 lead.
    Post 383 went back to work in the fifth as four more runs came home to increase the Oaks' lead to 8-0.
    LeDuc led off with a double to right center and scored as right fielder Mike Sanchez hit a ball to center that got by the center fielder. Robert Butler followed with a double to right center and then with one out Dennison hit a ball to short. The play went to first with Sanchez scoring for a 6-0 lead. Bret Gibson walked and then a hit by Wilson scored Butler to make it 7-0. Richardson also got a hit to load the bases and force a West Sacramento pitching change. Then, with Polanski at the plate, a balk scored Gibson to make it an 8-0 game.
    Richardson took the mound for the Oaks in the bottom of the fifth and after getting two outs and error, walk and hit to left center resulted in West Sacramento's only run of the game.
    Neither team scored in the sixth, but the Oaks added their final run of the game in the top of the seventh as Dennison led off getting on via error. Gibson followed with a bad hop hit over short and then with one out, a walk to Mark Lincoln loaded the bases. A ground ball to short by Polanski scored Dennison from third and the Oaks owned a 9-1 lead.
    John Constance came in to pitch the bottom of the seventh for the Oaks. Despite giving up a leadoff hit, Constance got the next two batters to pop out on the infield and then struck out the next batter to end the game.
