Robert Butler swings and misses to strike out in the sixth inning of the Oaks game against Folsom Sunday. Butler still collected three other hits on the day, including a double earlier in the inning as the Oaks scored six times in the sixth.

Fair Oaks 11, Folsom 5 (League: 15-3, Overall: 22-6-1) - July 9 @ Bella Vista High School - Fair Oaks ended its regular season with an 11-5 victory over the Folsom Flames at Bella Vista High School. The win wrapped up a 15-3 league season and put the Fair Oaks team on top of the league as the No. 1 seed entering the upcoming playoffs.
Folsom got on the board first with a single run in the third inning off Oaks starter Mark Lincoln, but Fair Oaks came back for two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead at 2-1.
Catcher Bret Gibson led off with a hit to right field followed by a hit to left by Robert Butler. Greg Polnski followed with a bunt to third that went for a hit and the Oaks had the bases loaded. Both runs scored on sacrifice flies as designated hitter Steve Rinaudo lifted one to right to score Gibson and center fielder Kyle Richardson followed with one to left to score Butler for a 2-1 lead.
John Constance took the mound in the fourth for the Oaks and struggled as he started out, giving up a leadoff walk and a double that brought in a run to tie the game at 2-2 before recording the next three batters as outs.
The Oaks came back in the fourth, however, to retake the lead at 4-2 with a pair of runs. Third baseman Abel Alcantar led off with a hit to center and then with one out,  left fielder Chris Johnson hit a ball to short. The throw went to second for the out, but Johnson was safe at first. Shortstop Chris Dennison followed with a hit to left and then Gibson had a hit, also to left, that scored Johnson to make it 3-2. Butler followed with a hit to center to score Dennison and the Oaks owned a 4-2 lead.
Folsom came right back in the top of the fifth to score three times and go back in front 5-5, but again the Oaks tied the game back up in the bottom of the inning with a single run. Rinaudo led off with a double to right and an error on the shortstop allowed Rinaudo to advance to third. He scored on a Richardson ground out to second to make it a 5-5 game.
The Oaks went out in front for good with a six-run sixth inning that started with a double to right by Butler. Justin Wilson followed with a hit up the middle. The ball was knocked down on the infield, but no play at first was possible. Rinaudo was the next batter and he hit a ball to short. The infielder bobbled the ball slightly before trying for the out on Wilson at second, but the throw was late and Butler scored to make it 6-5. Richardson followed with a bunt that was fielded by the pitcher, but a brief second of indecision where to throw the ball gave Richardson a hit and loaded the bases for the Oaks. Alcantar was the next batter and he faced a new Folsom pitcher, greeting the hurler with a double to right that cleared the bases bringing in Wilson, Rinaudo and Richardson for a 9-5 Oaks lead. First baseman Mike Sanchez followed with a ground ball to third, but beat the throw to first for a hit and then Gibson followed with a hit to left. Dennison then hit a ball to short with the throw going to second to get Gibson, but the relay to first was too late for the double play and Alcantar scored to make it 10-5. Jesse Olson then hit another ground ball to short that allowed Sanchez to come in for an 11-5 Oaks lead.
Folsom only had one base runner over the next two innings and faced a new pitcher in the ninth as Richardson took the mound. He gave up a leadoff hit and a one out walk, but recorded the next two outs to put the game in the win column for the Oaks.
