LEADING 3-1
ENTERING NINTH, OAKS LOSE TO
REDDING 7-4
- After staging a late-inning
comeback to tie the game and eventually take a 3-1 lead in the eighth
inning, everything fell apart for Fair Oaks in the top of the ninth as
Redding scored six runs to beat Post 383 7-4 and eliminate the Oaks
from the Area 1 Tournament. Kyle Richardson's leadoff homer in the
seventh tied the game and two runs in the eighth put the Oaks up 3-1,
but the Redding Stars used two hit batters, two walks, two hits and an
error to score six times in the ninth and put the game away.
CHICO BEATS OAKS
4-3
- After pounding B&L the day
before, the Oaks couldn't muster an offense on Friday, losing to the
Chico Nuts 4-3 in the second day of the Area 1 Tournament in
Yountville. The Oaks will play at 9 a.m. on Saturday against Redding. A
loss there would eliminate them from the tournament. If Post 383 wins
they would play the winner of the 12 p.m. Chico vs. Auburn game at 3
p.m.
OAKS BLAST B&L
- Fair Oaks opened Area 1 Tournament
play with an 11-1 victory over B&L Properties of Fairfield. The
Oaks used 16 hits, including two towering home runs from first baseman
Andrew LeDuc, to put away B&L in eight innings (10-Run Rule). The
Oaks next play the Chico Nuts at 3
p.m. on Friday at Borman Field in Yountville.

FAIR OAKS TAKES FOLSOM IN 12 -
It took 12 innings,
but Fair Oaks won its opening game of the 2006 District 6 Playoffs with
a 4-3 victory over Folsom Thursday afternoon at Sacramento City
College. A
two-out error in the second eventually led to Folsom's
first run and the Flames led 2-0 after six, but two Oaks runs in the
bottom of the sixth tied the game up at 2-2. The game remained tied until the top of the
11th when Folsom took a 3-2 lead, but the Oaks came back to tie it
again in the bottom of the inning. In the 12th, Fair Oaks loaded the bases
with one out and Abel Alcantar's hit to left field scored the winning
run. Fair
Oaks' next game will be against Yolo at 3 p.m. on Friday. Yolo
was a 17-11 winner over Southside in Thursday's first game.
