Roseville 4, Fair Oaks 1 (League: 2-1, Overall: 8-3) - June 12 @ Woodcreek High School - After the Oaks took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning, Roseville shut down Fair Oaks' bats and went on for a 4-1 victory over the Oaks at Woodcreek High School.
A leadoff double in the first by second baseman Keith Jennette started things off for Post 383. Jennette moved to second on a one out grounder to third by first baseman Mark Sanchez and then scored on a hit to center field by designated hitter Robert Beard.
Oaks pitcher Charlie Robertson put Roseville down in order in the bottom of the inning and the Post 383 looked like they'd score again in the second as shortstop Cameron Barr bunted for a hit with one out. With center fielder Brian Stamps at the plate, Barr took off running as Stamps delivered a single into center. Barr made it all the way to third with Stamps easing into second on the throw in.
Third baseman Greg Polanski then hit a ground ball to short. The throw came home to get Barr for the second out, with Stamps advancing to third and Polanski to second. The next batter struck out, however, leaving the score 1-0 in favor of Fair Oaks.
After a leadoff double to start the bottom of the inning, Roseville almost scored as they loaded the bases with no outs. A flyball to center allowed the runner on third to tag and go home, but he was out at the plate and the next batter hit into a force at second to end the inning with the Oaks still leading 1-0.
Roseville scored three times in the third inning, however, to take a lead they's never give up. The Oaks went down in order in the fourth and fifth, with Roseville adding another run in the bottom of the fifth off reliever Michael Garber who had just replaced Robertson on the mound.
The Oaks had base runners in both the sixth and seventh, but couldn't bring them home as Roseville held on for the 4-1 non-league win over Fair Oaks.
