Fair Oaks 13, Roseville 2 (League: 0-0, Overall: 3-0) - May 27 @ Land Park - Fair Oaks pounded Roseville for 12 hits and 13 runs in a 13-2 victory over Roseville on Sunday in Land Park.
The Oaks staked starting pitcher Keith Jennette to a 4-0 lead in the second inning as catcher Bret Gibson led off with a walk. He moved to second on a groundout by center fielder Josh Glaser and then to third on shortstop Brian Stamps hit to right field. Gibson scored on a hit up the middle by third baseman Taylor Sanders and then Stamps scored on a hit to center by left fielder Mark Lincoln. Casey Harms, the Oaks' right fielder, followed with a hit to left to score Sanders and then with two outs, a hit by Jennette to left scored Lincoln to make it a 4-0 game.
Post 383 put another three runs on the board in the top of the fourth as Lincoln and Harms led off the inning with back-to-back walks. Second baseman Greg Polanski then hit into a double play, but Lincoln was able to score to make it a 5-0 game.
Jennette then doubled down the left field line and Steven Langford followed with a double to left center to score Jennette for a 6-0 lead. With Gibson at the plate, a wild pitch sent Langford to third and he scored on Gibson's hit to center for a 7-0 Oaks lead.
Lyle Hobart relieved Jennette for the Oaks in the bottom of the fourth, giving up a walk and a hit before getting an out on a wild pitch that bounced back to Gibson, who pegged it to third to get the runner trying for the bag. Hobart then struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
The Oaks faced a new pitcher in the top of the fifth and that's when the roof caved in on Roseville. Consecutive walks to Josh Britt, Hobart and Lincoln loaded the bases. Harms sent a fly to left that allowed Britt to come home to make it 8-0. Garrett Micheels followed with a walk to reload the bases and Jennette walked to force in Hobart to make it a 9-0 game. Roseville again sent a new pitcher to the mound, but he was equally ineffective. Walks to Langford and Gibson forced in Lincoln and Micheels to make it 11-0 and then a two out hit by Britt scored Jennette to make it 12-0. Hobart wrapped up the Oaks' scoring with a hit to center to score Langford and make it a 13-0 lead.
Roseville came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn't enough to escape the tournament's 10-Run Rule and Post 383 took the 13-2 win in five innings.
