Fair Oaks 5, Yolo 4 (League: 11-3, Overall: 26-7)

the second game of their doublehader against Yolo in Woodland, Fair
Oaks scored two runs in the fifth, two runs in the seventh and single
run in the ninth to beat Yolo Post 77.
John Constance went the distance on the mound for
Fair Oaks allowing just one earned run and scattering nine hits.
Mike Sanchez provided the big bat for the Oaks as
the first baseman was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI, his
second double brought home Brian Stamps and pinch runner Taylor Sanders
to tie the game in the seventh inning.
Fair Oaks won it in the eighth as Yolo made two
errors in the inning allowing Josh Britt to score the winning run.
Stamps went 2-for-5, Bret Gibson was 2-for-4 and
Troy Spivey was 2-for-4 for Fair Oaks. Williams had 2 RBI,
Vawter-Scoggins was 2-for-4 and Brendan Gill was 2-for-3 for Yolo Post
77.
“I think that is what makes this version of the Oaks
team neat,” said Fair Oaks coach Jerry Crews, of his team’s ability to
come back in the second game. “This is the best thing that can happen
to Legion baseball. The number one seed in the District is coming down
to the final week.”
The two teams will meet for the final game of the
series at noon at Bella Vista High School on Sunday.
