Fair Oaks 4, Manhart 1 (League: 12-4, Overall: 27-8) - July 14 @ William Land Park - Fair Oaks improved its league record to 12-4, 27-8 overall with a 4-1 victory over Manhart at William Land Park.
The Oaks went up 1-0 in the first inning as second baseman Greg Polanski led off with a pop to first that was dropped for an error. With shortstop Cameron Barr at the plate, Polanski stole second and then moved to third as Barr bunted back to the pitcher with the throw going to first. First baseman Mike Sanchez and designated hitter Charlie Robertson then drew back to back walks to load the bases and a hit to left field by center fielder Brian Stamps scored Polanski to give the Oaks the lead.
The Oaks held their one run lead until the seventh when they scored two more runs for a 3-0 lead. With one out, Robertson was hit by a pitch. Jon Lang went in to run for Robertson at first and moved to second on a Stamps hit to left. This resulted in a Manhart pitching change, but the new hurler only managed to load the bases as the next batter - right fielder Troy Spivey - hit a shot to third that short hopped the third baseman making it impossible to make a play. With two outs, pinch hitter Abel Alcantar got a hit to center field to score Lang and Stamps to make it a 3-0 game.
Oaks starter Josh Glaser got Manhart out in order in the bottom of the inning and then the Oaks came back to score again in the top of the eighth.
With one out, Barr doubled to left center. With Sanchez at the plate, a wild pitch moved Barr to third. The throw to third by the catcher went into left field and Barr came in to score to make it a 4-0 game.
Manhart managed to string three consecutive hits together after two were out in the bottom of the eighth to score their only run of the game and bring the score to 4-1.
Glaser, who struck out seven in the game, finished off Manhart in the ninth with three straight outs to pick up the complete game victory for the Oaks.
