Redding 8, Fair Oaks 3 (League: 14-4, Overall: 32-12)
- July 27 @ Doryland Field, Chico - Fair Oaks was
eliminated from the Area 1 Playoffs in Chico as the Redding Stars beat
Post 383 by a score of 8-3 Friday night.
For the second straight loss, the Oaks outhit their
opponents as Fair Oaks collected eight hits to Redding's five, but the
Stars were able to put the runs on the board where the Oaks were not.
Post 383 held a 1-0 lead, scoring a single run in
the third, but five Redding runs in the bottom of the sixth and three
more in the seventh put the game away.
Mike Sanchez led the Oaks with a home run and two
RBI. Ben Schwefel added two hits, including a double, and Greg Polanski
also had a double for Post 383.
The Oaks finished their season with a 32-12 record,
setting a new mark for most games played in a season (44). The previous
record was held by the 1997 Oaks who played 43 games and finished with
a 33-10 record.
