Folsom 7, Fair Oaks 1 (League: 0-1, Overall: 3-2) - June 2 @ Folsom High School - Fair Oaks lost its District 6 league opener on Saturday as the Folsom Flames defeated the Oaks by a score of 7-1 at Folsom High School.
Post 383's bats were unusually quiet in the game, but five errors didn't help matters either. The Oaks collected only five singles in the defeat.
Folsom scored three times in the sixth inning to take their first lead of the game off Oaks starting pitcher Josh Glaser. The Oaks came back with a lone run in the top of the seventh to close the score to 3-1, but that's as close as the score would get the rest of the way.
Catcher Bret Gibson started things off in the seventh with a one out hit to center field. Then with two outs, center fielder Brian Stamps got a hit to right that moved Gibson to third base. Stamps got into a rundown trying to take second and Gibson was able to score with Stamps making it safely to second.
Folsom came right back in the bottom of the inning, however, to score two more runs for a 5-1 lead, chasing Glaser off the mound in favor of Michael Garber. Garber couldn't shut the Flames down either, giving up a walk and a hit to score another Folsom run for a 6-1 lead. After a walk loaded the bases with only one out, Garber stepped up and struck out the next batter and then threw a ground ball to end the inning.
Fair Oaks went out in order in the top of the eighth and Folsom scored its final run in the bottom of the inning for a 7-1 lead. The Oaks managed only a two out walk in the ninth as Folsom claimed the District 6 opener 7-1.
