Fair Oaks 20, Auburn 0 (League: 2-1, Overall: 7-2) - June 10 @ James Field, Auburn - Fair Oaks Post 383 beat up on defending State Champion Auburn Post 84 as the Oaks pounded out a 20-0 win at James Field in Auburn in the first game of a doubleheader.
The game didn't even last a full five innings as Auburn's coach ran a white flag up the flagpole after the Oaks scored 10 runs in the top of the fifth for their huge lead.
Post 383 took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning as second baseman Keith Jennette led off with a double to left field. With one out, right fielder Mike Sanchez sent a fly ball to right field that was dropped allowing Jennette to score for a 1-0 lead. Designated hitter Robert Beard and catcher Bret Gibson then drew back to back walks to load the bases and first baseman Charlie Robertson's ground ball to second brought in Sanchez for a 2-0 lead.
It appeared that the Oaks scored a third run as center fielder Brian Stamps struck out. The ball got away from the catcher, however, and Stamps was safe at first on a wild throw that went into right field. After a protest from Auburn's coach, the umpires ruled that Stamps had interfered with the throw by running inside the baseline and he was declared out with no run scoring.
The Oaks added another pair of runs in the top of the second as third baseman Josh Britt started things off with a one out hit to right field. Britt moved to third on a double by Jennette and then scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Greg Polanski. Sanchez, the next batter, grounded to short, with the throw going to first. The ball went wide of its mark, however, and Jennette scored to make it a 4-0 game.
After starting pitcher Josh Glaser put Auburn down in order in the bottom of the second, the Oaks scored a lone run in the top of the third for a 5-0 advantage.
With two outs, Stamps hit a ball to left that took a high bounce over the head of the left fielder for a double. Shortstop Cameron Barr walked and then Britt followed with a single to right to score Stamps.
In the fourth, five more runs came home for a 10-0 lead. Polanski led off with a hit to center and then with Sanchez at the plate, a wild pitch sent Polanski to second. Sanchez singled to right, moving Polanski to third and then Beard's sacrifice to center allowed Polanski to tag and score to make it 6-0.  Gibson followed with a hit to right and then Robertson walked to load the bases. A hit to left by Stamps scored Sanchez to make it 7-0 and knocked Auburn's starting pitcher off the mound. But the new hurler hit the first batter he faced - Barr - to force in Gibson for an 8-0 lead and then Britt hit a ball down the third baseline to score Robertson and Stamps to make it a 10-0 game.
The Oaks doubled their third inning 5-0 lead in the fourth with five runs to make it 10-0 and doubled it again in the fifth with 10 runs to make it 20-0.
Sanchez started things off with a double down the third base line and scored on Beard's hit to left for an 11-0 lead. Gibson walked and Robertson was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs, prompting another Auburn pitching change. Consecutive walks to Stamps and Barr brought home Beard and Gibson to make it 13-0. Again Post 84 changed hurlers, but the new pitcher issued a walk to force in Robertson to make it 14-0 and then a hit by Jennette down the third base line scored Stamps and Barr to make it 16-0. Polanski was hit by a pitch to reload the bases and then a Sanchez hit to left scored Britt to make it 17-0. Pinch hitter Michael Garber struck out for the first out of the inning, but then Gibson got a hit to right to score Jennette and Robertson doubled to right to score Polanski and Sanchez to make it 20-0.
At that point, Auburn's coach told the umpires to call the game and the Oaks took the victory. It was the Oaks largest margin of victory and most runs scored since a 24-2 win over West Sacramento June 19, 2005. The Oaks also had a 22-3 win that year over Post 61 on June 25.
Glaser picked up the complete game victory with a five hit shut out.
