Fair Oaks 8, Roseville 2 (League: 4-0, Overall: 16-2) - June 17 @ Woodcreek High School - For the third time this season Fair Oaks defeated Roseville, this time taking down their Placer County opponents by a score of 8-2 at Woodcreek High School.
The game remained tied at 0-0 until the top of the sixth inning when the Oaks scored four times to take a lead they'd never give up.
Center fielder Jon Lang led off with a ball to short that was misplayed and with second baseman Jeff Nickell at the plate, advanced to second on a bad pickoff attempt by the pitcher to first base. Nickell then followed through with a hit to left center that got by the left fielder to score Lang and make it 1-0 and land Nickell on second base. Nickell advanced to third on a ground ball by designated hitter Bret Gibson. The next batter,  first baseman Charlie Robertson, then grounded the ball to first.  Nickell came way down the line at third causing the Roseville first baseman to hesistate.  Robertson made it in safely at first, while Nickell got back to third just ahead of the throw. Bryce Bandilla then got a hit to right field to score both runners and make it a 3-0 game. With third baseman Taylor Sanders at the plate, a passed ball sent Bandilla to second. Sanders then doubled to right center to score Bandilla and make it 4-0.
The Oaks added four more runs in the top of the seventh as Lang drew a one out walk to start things off.  With Ryan Dettman at he plate, Lang stole second. Dettman bunted to third for a base hit, moving Lang to third in the process. A walk to Gibson loaded the bases. Robertson followed with a ground ball to first that allowed Lang to score for a 5-0 lead. Bandilla then doubled to right to score Dettman and Gibson and make it 7-0. Andrew Gutierez followed with a hit to center to score Bandilla and give the Oaks an 8-0 lead.
Roseville came back to score two in the bottom of the seventh for the final 8-2 margin. Both the Oaks and Roseville went out in order in the eighth and Fair Oaks could only manage a walk in the top of the ninth to cap off their offense for the day.
Michael Garber came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth for the Oaks, striking out two of the three batters he faced to end the game.
