Fair Oaks 2, Yolo 0 (League: 6-0, Overall: 18-2) - June 19 @ Bella Vista High School - Fair Oaks starting pitcher Cody Osburn dominated Yolo, allowing only five hits en route to a 2-0 shut out of Post 77 at Bella Vista High School.
Osburn allowed a leadoff hit to Yolo, but then recorded 10 straight outs to shut Post 77 down into the fourth inning. Meanwhile, Fair Oaks scored its first run in the bottom of the first with help form three Yolo errors.
Center fielder Ryan Dettman led off the inning with a ground ball to third that was booted and then moved all the way to third as the next batter, catcher Ben Schwefel, got a hit to right that was bobbled in the outfield. With one out, designated hitter Bret Gibson hit into what looked to be a double play, but the relay throw to first was off and Gibson was safe with Dettman scoring to make it a 1-0 lead.
Yolo actually managed a pair of hits in the fourth, but could not score. The Oaks came back in the bottom of the fifth for their second run as shortstop Cameron Barr drew a one out walk to start things off. Barr moved to third on a Dettman hit to center and then scored on a Schwefel sacrifice fly to right for the 2-0 lead.
Osburn put Yolo down in order in the sixth and the Oaks made some rumblings in the bottom of the inning as a Gibson walk, Charlie Robertson hit to right, and a one out hit to right by Cole Carter loaded the bases. But a double play ended the inning with no Oaks runs coming across.
Yolo went out in order again in the seventh and despite having base runners in the eighth and ninth innings, couldn't get anyone past first base. Osburn struck out four in the complete-game victory.
