Fair Oaks 2, Yolo 0 (League: 0-0, Overall: 4-0) - May 26 @ William Land Park - Fair Oaks Post 383 used a strong pitching performance from Bryce Bandilla with relief help from Taylor Sanders to beat Yolo 2-0 and take the 2008 District 6 Memorial Day Tournament title at William Land Park.
The Oaks scored the only two runs of the game in the top of the first as center fielder Jon Lang led off with a walk. A wild pitch with left fielder Ryan Dettman at the plate moved Lang to second. Dettman eventually  walked, as well, and then with one out catcher Bret Gibson got a hit to left that scored Lang and sent Dettman to third. Gibson was able to advance to second on the throw home from the outfield. First baseman Charlie Robertson was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and third baseman Andrew Guiterez followed with a hit to left field to score Dettman and make it a 2-0 Oaks lead. Yolo pitcher Adrian Perez got the next two Oaks batters out to end the inning with no additional runs scoring.
In the third, the Oaks got a runner as far as third base, but were unable to score. Gibson led off with a walk, but was erased on a ground ball to short by Robertson. Robertson was also erased on a Gutierez grounderto short, but then shortstop Cameron Barr doubled deep to left field. Barr actually came all the way around, but the ball was ruled out of play and Barr was given a ground rule double instead, with Gutierez ending up on third. The next batter grounded out, however, ending the inning.
Bandilla came back in the bottom of the inning to strike out the side and recorded three more K's in the fourth despite giving up a two out walk. Bandilla recorded 10 strikeouts through the four innings that he pitched.
Taylor Sanders came in to pitch the fifth for Fair Oaks, giving up a pair of walks, but escaped the inning on a 6-4-3 double play. Sanders struck out three in the sixth despite Yolo gaining two base runners on a hit and an error and in the seventh faced only four batters, ending the game with a strikeout to give the Oaks the 2008 Memorial Day trophy. Bandilla and Sanders combined for 14 strikeouts in the game.
