Fair Oaks 11, Manhart 0 (League: 1-0, Overall: 6-0) - May 31 @ William Land Park - Fair Oaks opened its 2008 District 6 season with an 11-0 win over Manhart at William Land Park in the first game of a doubleheader.
The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when the Oaks tallied eight runs to take a commanding lead that they would never give up.
Fair Oaks second baseman Josh Britt led off the fifth with a walk to start things off. First baseman Justin Haley was then hit by a pitch and third baseman Taylor Sanders got a hit to right field to load the bases. Left fielder Ryan Dettman then got a hit to right to score Britt and shortstop Cameron Barr followed with a walk to force in Haley and make it 2-0. The next batter, right fielder Bryce Bandilla, then hit a ball to second. The throw went to short covering the bag, but the ball got away and both Sanders and Dettman scored to make it a 4-0 game. With catcher Bret Gibson at the plate, a balk scored Barr and then Gibson got a hit to right. The next batter, designated hitter Cole Carter,  hit a ball back to the pitcher, who caught Bandilla in a rundown between home and third. The throw to third, however, got away, and Bandilla scored to make it 6-0. This prompted a Manhart pitching change, but the Oaks weren't through. Center fielder Jon Lang hit a ball to third that was bobbled to reload the bases. Britt's sacrifice fly to right scored Gibson for a 7-0 lead and then Haley's hit to short was knocked down on a diving stop with no play being made and Carter scoring to make it an 8-0 game.
The Oaks added another pair of runs in the sixth as Barr led of the inning with a walk. With one out, Gibson got a hit to center and then with two outs, a walk to Lang loaded the bases. Jeff Nickell then got a hit to left to score Barr and gibson for the 10-0 lead.
Post 383 capped off its scoring with a single run in the ninth as a walk to Ben Schwefel and consecutive hits by Sanders and Dettman loaded the bases. Lyle Hobart then got a hit up the middle to bring home Schwefel to give the Oaks an 11-0 lead.
Charlie Robertson pitched seven strong innings for the Oaks, striking out seven batters en route to the win. He was relieved in the eighth by Michael Garber who struck out four in the final two innings.
