Fair Oaks 13, Manhart 0 (League: 2-0, Overall: 7-0) - May 31 @ William Land Park - Fair Oaks recorded its second straight shut out over Manhart with a 13-0 win to complete a doubleheader sweep at William Land Park and move to 2-0 in league play.
As it did in the first game, Fair Oaks used a big inning and never looked back, as Post 383 jumped on Manhart for eight runs in the first to give starter Josh Glaser all the runs he'd need for the complete-game victory.
Second baseman Josh Britt started things off with a walk and then went to third on catcher Ben Schwefel's hit to left center. Shortstop Cameron Barr then brought Britt home with a hit to center for a 1-0 lead. Designated hitter Charlie Robertson was the next batter, hitting the ball to short, but beating out the throw for a base hit to load the bases. Left fielder Cole Carter walked to force in Schwefel from third and then a double by right fielder Jon Lang scored Barr and Robertson to make it a 4-0 game. First baseman Justin Haley followed with a hit down the line in right to score Carter and a hit by center fielder Ryan Dettman to right scored Lang and Haley to make it a 7-0 game. Third baseman Jeff Nickell walked prompting a Manhart pitching change and then with one out, Schwefel's sacrifice fly to left scored Dettman for the Oaks final tally of the inning making it 8-0.
The Oaks padded their lead in the fifth with another run as Schwefel got a one out hit. He was erased on a ground ball to short by Barr, but Barr beat the relay to first to avoid the double play. Bret Gibson followed with a double to right to score Barr to give the Oaks a 9-0 lead.
Post 383 scored four more times in the sixth for their final 13-0 lead. With one out, Haley doubled down the right field line. Dettman was hit by a pitch to put two runners on and then Nickell's hit to right center loaded the bases with one out. Britt popped out to short for the second out, but then Schwefel sent a ball through the legs of the first baseman to score Haley and make it 10-0. Barr then flew to right, but the ball was dropped and Dettman scored. Gibson followed with a hit to left to score Nickell and a ground ball to short by Michael Garber was booted to score Schwefel and give the Oaks a 13-0 lead.
Despite an error and a double in the bottom of the sixth, Manhart failed to score off Glaser, and Glaser sent Post 391 down in order in the seventh to preserve the shutout victory.
