Fair Oaks 3, B&L Properties 1 (League: 3-0, Overall: 9-0) - June 4 @ Bella Vista High - Despite three errors, Fair Oaks Post 383 picked up its ninth win of the year against no losses as the Oaks defeated B&L Properties of Fairfield 3-1 at Bella Vista High School.
This was the second win of the year for Fair Oaks over B&L. The two teams met in Fairfield on May 27, with the Oaks recording an 8-6 victory at Laurel Creek Park.
The Oaks got on the board early against Fairfield starter Ricky Mroz with a pair of runs in the first inning.
Center fielder Jon Lang led off the inning with a double to left field and quickly scored as catcher Ben Schwefel followed with another double in virtually the same spot. Schwefel scored as pitcher Bryce Bandilla aided his own cause with a single up the middle to give the Oaks a 2-0 lead.
Bandilla, who had given up a first inning hit and walk to B&L after two were out, put Fairfield down in order in the second, and held them scoreless until the fifth when B&L scored its only run of the game.
Fairfield got a runner on via error after one was out as left fielder David Pearson bounced a ball over the mound toward short where the Oaks' Cameron Barr couldn't find the handle. A walk to right fielder Ryan Anderson pushed the runner over and a ground ball back to Bandilla on the mound moved the runner to third with two out. B&L second baseman Pat Ferrell then hit a ball to short that went for an infield hit to score Pearson and make it a 2-1 game.
The Oaks came right back to score their third and final run in the bottom of the inning after two were out. Bandilla led off with a double down the right field line and then scored on Bret Gibson's double to left field to make it a 3-1 game.
Michael Garber relieved Bandilla in the top of the seventh and shut out B&L Properties the rest of the way.
The Oaks collected nine hits in the game, five of which were doubles, while holding B&L to only three singles.
