Chico 7, Fair Oaks 6 (League: 3-1, Overall: 9-3-1) - June 7 @ Doryland Field, Chico - The Oaks arrived in Chico Sunday morning expecting to play the Chico Nuts in a twin bill, but wound up only playing one game after the Chico team begged off playing the doubleheader at the last minute. The Nuts had used up all their pitching in a doubleheader win the day before against El Dorado and the Oaks begrudgingly agreed after their two-hour drive North.

Chico touched Oaks starter Cody Osburn for five runs over the first three innings. Reliever Zane Hemphill gave up one in the fourth and Taylor Sanders one in the eighth to account for all the Nuts runs.

The Oaks, meanwhile, had trouble getting runners home despite getting them on base. The Oaks loaded the bases in the first with no outs, but couldn't score, and had runners on first and second with no outs in the second, and first and third with one out in the third, and couldn't bring them home.

Jon Lang had a solo home run and Taylor Sanders added a three-run shot to pace the Oaks.

Game Notes: If pitching was an issue with Chico, one has to wonder why they scheduled three doubleheaders in three days. Not only did they play a doubleheader on Saturday against El Dorado, they double-dipped Red Bluff on Monday. Had they also played the Oaks in Sunday's doubleheader as scheduled, that would have been six games in three days.
